Applications of Bearings in Household Appliances

Bearings are the core rotating components of household appliances, reducing friction, ensuring smooth rotation, minimizing noise, withstanding heavy loads, and extending service life. Virtually all home appliances equipped with motors, spindles, or fans rely on them.

I. The Core Role of Household Appliance Bearings

1. Supports the rotating shaft, significantly reducing frictional losses for energy savings and high efficiency.

2. Withstands radial and axial loads, suppresses vibration, and reduces operating noise.

3. High-temperature resistant, moisture-proof, and dustproof—ideal for household appliances operating in humid, high-temperature, and dusty environments.

4. Ensures high-speed, smooth operation and significantly extends the service life of the entire machine.

II. Specific Applications of Various Household Appliances

1. Washing machine (heavy-duty, high-frequency)

• Drum spindle: self-aligning ball bearings that withstand heavy laundry loads and the extreme centrifugal forces of spin drying, while automatically compensating for eccentricity and reducing vibration and noise.

• Motor shaft and drain pump: deep-groove ball bearings, water-resistant sealing, wear-resistant and durable

• Fault symptoms: abnormal noises, vibration, and water leakage—these are almost always caused by bearing aging or failure.

2. Air conditioner (silent high-speed mode)

• Indoor and outdoor fan motors and cross-flow fans: miniature deep-groove ball silent bearings, offering ultra-low noise, high rotational speed, and long service life.

• Compressor main shaft: tapered roller/ angular contact bearings, capable of handling bidirectional loads and ensuring stable high-pressure, high-speed operation.

3. Electric fan / Air purifier

• Motor shaft and fan blade bearings: deep-groove ball bearings for smooth, low-resistance, and quiet airflow; household fans are standardly equipped with 608/6201 models.

4. Refrigerator

• Compressor motor bearings: low friction, resistance to temperature fluctuations, and smooth, low-noise operation

• Refrigerator door hinge: needle roller bearing for smooth, durable operation with no sticking or jamming.

5. Kitchen Appliances (Blenders / Juicers / Range Hoods)

• High-speed blenders and food processors: equipped with high-precision, high-speed bearings that can withstand speeds of over 10,000 RPM, high temperatures, and resistance to food oils and grease.

• Range hood fan: sealed deep-groove ball bearings for resistance to cooking fumes and dust, noise reduction, and long-lasting durability.

6. Vacuum cleaners, hair dryers

• High-speed digital motor: features high-temperature-resistant miniature bearings, achieves speeds of over 100,000 rpm, and offers dust and moisture resistance with low losses.

III. Common Bearing Types Used in Home Appliances

1. Deep-groove ball bearings (6000/6200 series): the most versatile type, ideal for fans, motors, and water pumps—offering quiet operation at high speeds and excellent value.

2. Spherical roller bearings: used in washing machine drums for resistance to eccentricity and heavy-load vibration damping. 3. Thrust bearings: designed to withstand axial loads in both the upward and downward directions, commonly found in range hoods and compressor end supports.

4. Needle Roller Bearings: Used in refrigerator and microwave oven door hinges—compact, wear-resistant, and ensure smooth opening and closing.

IV. Common Faults in Household Appliance Bearings

• Abnormal operating noises and increased humming noise

• Severe vibration of the device, reduced rotational speed, and increased power consumption

• Washing machine imbalance during spin cycle, water leakage

• Severe motor overheating, prone to burnout
